Cain and Abel (cello duet) Premiere

It was brilliant to be back at the Orpheus and Bacchus Music Festival in Bordeaux this year. I'm delighted that Leo Popplewell and William Clark-Maxwell premiered the cello duet I wrote for them, Cain and Abel

The two cellists take on the role of these two biblical figures, each offering musical 'gifts' to God. Abel's gifts outshine Cain's; Cain grows jealous and kills Abel, who ascends to the heavenly upper regions of the cello. The 'dead' cellist returns as God, the impact of his deep, resonant bass notes reining Cain in, as Cain is condemned to a life of toil... Listen to the premiere performance below:
